Iran has issued a strong warning to Romania, stressing that Bucharest will face political and legal consequences if it allows the United States to use military bases on Romanian territory for operations against Tehran.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stated during a press conference that such an action would be considered direct participation in a military aggression against Iran.
"If Romania were to make its bases available to the United States, this would be tantamount to participating in military aggression against Iran," Baghaei said.
According to him, such a decision would be unacceptable under international law and would place Romania in the face of international responsibility.
Tehran has also stressed that it will react to any country that allows its territory to be used for attacks against the Islamic Republic.
