Iran elects new leader, Trump: I am not happy with the appointment of Khamenei's son

US President Donald Trump is reportedly not very happy with the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as the new supreme leader of Iran.
According to a report on Fox News, host Brian Kilmeade stated during the program that he spoke with Trump after the announcement of the selection of the new Iranian leader. He said that the US president told him briefly that he was “not very happy” with this development, without providing other details about the conversation. So far, Trump has not made an official public comment on the matter.
Mojtaba Khamenei's appointment came after Iran's Assembly of Experts decided to elect him to succeed his father, Ali Khamenei, who was killed in the early hours of the recent war in the region.
However, many analysts estimate that the new leader may not have the same level of influence and authority as his father, who built his power over more than four decades at the helm of the Islamic Republic.
According to the Iranian news agency ISNA, cleric Mohsen Heydari, a member of the Assembly of Experts, stated that the choice of Mojtaba Khamenei was in line with the late leader's advice that the supreme leader should be "someone hated by the enemy and not praised by him."
