Dervishi: If Albanians get up from the cafes, there is no government to stop them

Journalist Lufti Dervishi, commenting on the opposition protests, emphasized that the citizen reaction in Tirana could be decisive for any political development in the country.
Invited to "Off the Record" on A2 CNN, Dervishi said that if citizens remain passive in everyday life, protests remain limited, but on the contrary, a simple mobilization can change everything.
"It seems that the protests are more of a test to test the strength within the opposition. So it turns out that only the DP has the capacity to organize massive protests. The very fact that it is called national shows one thing: Tirana is a city that wants a different approach, because it is enough for the block, which is an alley further away, if half of those who are in the cafes get up and take to the streets, there is no government that can stand," said Dervishi.
He underlined that organizing protesters from districts shows strength and structure, but according to him, this method has not resulted in the overthrow of governments.
"Taking people from the districts certainly shows your organizational power and that you have the strength to exert pressure, but it is a technique used and has not been effective in the sense of imposing a change of government," he said.
Dervishi also brought to attention an example from Hungary, suggesting another approach for the Albanian opposition.
"I was very impressed because I have been looking for materials about the electoral success in Hungary. You cannot put an equal sign between the two countries, but the electoral technique of the opposition leader was different: numerous, frequent meetings with people. Not just rallies, but conversations at the level, although boycotted by the media in a frightening way. He has relied on communication, contact and social networks to convince and to talk about concrete problems ," said Dervishi.
