Chaos after the killing of "El Mencho", roads blocked, vehicles burned and barricades erected in Mexico

Smoke was seen rising over several areas of Puerto Vallarta, in the Mexican state of Jalisco, following reports of attacks and the setting up of checkpoints by members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
The events come after the elimination of the cartel's leader, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as "El Mencho." According to initial reports, armed groups blocked main roads, burned vehicles and erected barricades at several strategic points in the resort city, in a show of force after the loss of their leader.
Mexican authorities have increased the presence of security forces in the area, while the situation remains tense. Analysts warn that after the death of "El Mencho", internal clashes for control of the organization are expected, as well as a new wave of violence between rival factions and state forces.
