Rubio: Iran wants a deal with the US, but nuclear weapons are an essential condition

"Tehran is essentially seeking a deal with Washington," said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, emphasizing that the main condition remains preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
In an interview with Fox News, Rubio noted that the Iranian side is seeking to overcome the difficult situation it is in.
"I believe they are serious about trying to get out of the impasse they are in," he said.
The head of American diplomacy focused in particular on the worsening economic conditions in Iran.
"All the problems that existed before the conflict began remain and, in most cases, have worsened," he said.
At the same time, he stressed that any agreement must include clear guarantees: "We must make sure that any agreement ultimately prevents Iran from moving toward developing a nuclear weapon at any time," he noted.
