Trump's taxes spark protests in the US and Europe

Massive demonstrations against US President Donald Trump's tariffs were organized around the world on Saturday.
In the US alone, over 500,000 people are participating in demonstrations in a total of 1,000 rallies across all states.
Thousands of people began gathering around the Washington Monument in the rain by noon, and more than 20,000 people were expected to attend a rally there, the largest in the US.
In the streets of Washington, American protesters are seen demonstrating, in addition to Trump's tariffs, for other issues related to a general dissatisfaction with the American president.
" America doesn't need a king " and " This is what democracy looks like ," these are some of the writings on the banners that demonstrators hold in their hands, while sandals and shoes representing Palestinian children killed by Israeli forces in Gaza were displayed near the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement headquarters in Washington.
Many others held banners reading slogans such as "Down with Social Security" or "Fascism is here," as well as upside-down American flags, a historic symbol of political protest.
About 150 activist groups have called for planned protests in all 50 US states, plus Canada and Mexico. Numerous left-wing civic movements have called for protests across the country against what they describe as a "power grab" by the Republican president.
Several senior Democrats in Congress, including Rep. Jamie Raskin, attended the rally. “ We have the right to protest for what is right without being arrested, deported or fired. We have the right to read the books we want, including 1984 and The Handmaid’s Tale… We even have the right to call the president crazy, and the press has the right to call the Gulf of Mexico, the Gulf of Mexico ,” Ruskin said.
Criticizing the extremists who occupied Congress on January 6 after the election of President Joe Biden, Raskin said, "These were monsters who turned the American flag into a weapon of war against our police. And now, Donald Trump says he wants to create a fund to compensate them."
Similar protests took place around the world on Saturday, particularly in Berlin, Paris and London.
Trump, who spent the day in Florida playing golf today, has given his blessing to Musk and DOGE, which the billionaire has put in place to make major cuts and tens of thousands of federal employees have been laid off, in some cases by accident.
Hours before the protests began in the US, hundreds of anti-Trump Americans living in Europe gathered in Berlin, Frankfurt, Paris, Lisbon and London protesting both the domestic and foreign policies of the Trump administration.
