Tehran: We have chosen Iran's Supreme Leader

Iran's Assembly of Experts has reached an agreement on who will be elected as Iran's new supreme leader following the assassination of Ali Khamenei.
According to foreign media, the news was announced by Ayatollah Mohammad-Mahdi Mirbagheri, a member of this body, to the Fars news agency.
It is learned that he stated that "great efforts were made to determine the leader" and that "a decisive and unanimous opinion" was agreed upon.
In another interview with the Fars news agency, Hojjatoleslam Jafari, Zanjan's representative in the Assembly of Experts, said he hoped that "all the Iranian people will be satisfied as soon as possible."
" The delay in electing the third leader is bitter and unwanted for everyone, and there is no alternative, so we should not have bad thoughts about our representatives at this difficult moment," the cleric is reported to have said.
Under the Iranian Constitution, the Assembly of Experts, currently 88 members, is tasked with electing a new supreme leader after the nearly 37-year tenure of Khamenei, who was killed in a US strike in Tehran on February 28.
Ayatollah Mohsen Heidari Alekasir, another member of the Assembly, said the candidate was chosen based on the advice of Ali Khamenei, who said the Iranian leader should be "hated by the enemy."
" Even the Great Satan (the US) mentioned his name," said Heydari Alekasir. Days earlier, Trump called Khamenei's son, Mojtaba, an "unacceptable" choice. So it seems that Mojtaba, the son of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been selected to be the new Supreme Leader of Iran.
