A serious incident has occurred in Kiev, where an individual opened fire on passersby, causing at least 6 deaths and 10 injuries.

The incident took place in the Demiivka area, south of the Ukrainian capital, in the Holosiivskyi district.

After the attack, the suspect managed to go to a supermarket, where he took several people hostage, including an internal supermarket security guard.

According to sources, the aggressor, who is suspected to be a man around 60 years old, shot at passersby on a busy street, causing chaos and fear among citizens.

A video published by the well-known Ukrainian media outlet, "Ukrainska Pravda", shows a white-haired person who appears to be running with a heavy weapon in his hand, creating a disturbing and unsafe image in the city.

Police and special security teams responded immediately, surrounding the supermarket and initiating negotiations with the aggressor. After several hours of tension, authorities managed to neutralize the aggressor, rescuing several hostages who were still locked inside the store.

During the action, 4 people were rescued, while another person was taken to the hospital for medical treatment, after suffering minor injuries.

Ukraine's Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko confirmed the news of the victims and expressed his condolences to the relatives of the deceased. He also stressed that the investigation into the incident is ongoing, as authorities work to uncover the reasons and circumstances that led to this violent attack.

"All security forces are on the move to secure the area and extract further information. So far, we have reliable data that speaks of 5 victims and 10 injured," Klymenko declared.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted immediately after the incident, saying that authorities were working to clarify every detail of the incident. He assured citizens that all the injured were receiving necessary medical care and called for a prompt and thorough investigation into the incident.
