Zelensky clarifies phone call with Trump, when peace talks are expected to

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has given a brief summary of the telephone conversation held this evening with US President Donald Trump, in which, according to him, US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner also participated.

"Our teams are working intensively at the moment and I thanked them for all their efforts and commitment to the negotiations to end the war," Zelenskyy said.

According to the Ukrainian president, during the conversation, issues expected to be addressed in the next round of peace talks in Geneva, as well as in the upcoming trilateral negotiations expected to take place in early March, were discussed.

"We hope this will enable us to move to negotiations at the leadership level,"  he added.

"President Trump supports this course of action. Only in this way can we resolve all the complex and sensitive issues and finally end the war."

Earlier, Zelenskyy stated that he was ready to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on neutral territory to advance peace negotiations.

Asked today about the possibility of such a meeting, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov questioned "whether there is any point in holding a summit" between the two leaders, as long as Ukraine maintains its current position in the negotiations.
