Nearly 1.2 million citizens entered Albania in January, Southern Europe dominates

Nearly 1.2 million people entered Albania during January of this year, 3.3% more than the same period a year earlier, confirming an increase in movements towards the country at the start of 2026.
Of these, 644,363 were Albanian citizens, marking an increase of 7.8%, while foreign citizens reached 552,187, with a slight decrease of 1.5%.
Regarding the origin of foreign visitors, Southern Europe remains the dominant region, accounting for the vast majority of arrivals, followed by Western Europe.
Visitors from Africa, America and Asia represent a more limited share of total arrivals.
Travel for personal purposes continues to remain the main reason for foreign citizens entering Albanian territory, although with a slight decrease compared to the previous year.
Meanwhile, entries for business and professional reasons have marked a more noticeable contraction.
The data confirms that Albania maintains its position as a preferred destination for visitors from Southern and Western Europe, with a clear travel profile oriented mainly towards personal and tourist purposes.
