A serious incident has occurred at a high school in the southern Philippines, where a student allegedly shot his friend and then killed himself.
The incident took place at a school affiliated with the Ateneo de Zamboanga University in Zamboanga City, a private Catholic institution in western Mindanao. According to authorities, the student entered the campus armed with a rifle and a pistol and shot at students inside the classroom.
Zamboanga City Mayor Khymer Adan Olaso stated that the perpetrator "managed to enter carrying a high-powered firearm and a .45 caliber pistol."
Referring to a video circulating in local media, Olaso said the perpetrator initially pointed the gun at a teacher who was at a desk.
"Apparently, he didn't shoot him, then moved to another room... he shot another student there, the one who fell. It appears two others were also injured, probably before he killed himself," he said.
