Besa is one of the most sacred values of Albanian culture. It is not a political agreement nor a word uttered in times of crisis. It is the trust that is built with character, with truth, and with coherence between word and deed. Besa is not sought; it is earned.
When power seeks allegiance after losing trust, a paradox arises. Because allegiance cannot restore what has been consumed by years of distrust. It is not a political solution, but a moral judgment on the way power has been exercised.
When language, aesthetics, art, and symbolism itself are put at the service of the image of power, even the most sacred words risk losing their meaning. Besa is not a rhetorical decor; it is the boundary that separates truth from manipulation.
Precisely for this reason, the Flamingos cannot give this pledge. Not because they speak in their own name, but because they hold the trust of citizens who demand responsibility before reconciliation and trust before any agreement. To transform the pledge into a political compromise means to empty it of its meaning and to disappoint those who seek a different way of doing politics.
The Flamingos did not rise up to negotiate the survival of a government. They rose up to defend the dignity of the citizen, the weight of the word given, and the right not to be manipulated even when the manipulation is dressed up in the most sacred words.
Because faith is not a refuge for power. It is the highest honor that a people bestows only on those who have earned it through their deeds.
