Accused of connection to the Rinas assassination attempt, Ylli Zalla is arrested after nearly a year

The escape of Ylli Zalla, the 49-year-old wanted by the blue uniforms, ends.

Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari has shared footage from the arrest of Zalla in Kruja. The operation was carried out by the RENEA Special Forces, the Directorate of the Special Operational Force, the operational structures of the Tirana DVP and the Kruja Police Commissariat.

We recall that yesterday, shortly after reports that TNT had been placed in his house in Zalla, Fushë-Krujë, which caused damage to the roof of the one-story house and burned his "Benz", Ylli Zalla reacted by demanding from the justice system a full investigation into the murder of Gilmando Dani, for which the justice system suspects that he collaborated. 

Although the country's blues have been looking for him since November 2025, the moment when the sensational assassination attempt on Gilmando Dani took place, Zall claims his innocence in relation to the event. While he insists that the truth be revealed and the real author of Dani's murder be discovered, since the accusations brought against him have endangered his life.

Who is Ylli Zalla?

Ylli Zalla has been wanted since November 2025, when an arsenal of weapons was discovered in his apartment, following investigations related to the assassination in Rinas. Zalla is suspected of being an accomplice in the November 2025 assassination that killed Gilmando Dani and Muçi Shaljani, charges that were never proven.

Meanwhile, 12 years ago, Ylli Zalla was arrested for making homemade bombs and was also involved in the production and sale of drugs. At that time, he was suspected of having links with the ISIS group to recruit Albanians for jihad. Years ago, he had also threatened the life of the owner of a cement company in Fushë Krujë.
