Incidents after the challenge with Lyon, UEFA opens investigations into Guendouzi and Greenwood

UEFA has initiated disciplinary proceedings against Fenerbahçe players Matteo Guendouzi and Mason Greenwood following incidents that occurred last week following the Champions League playoff match between Olympique Lyon and Fenerbahçe that resulted in the French team's elimination.
It was the Turkish club itself that confirmed everything through a press release. The French midfielder, Matteo Guendouzi, the author of an ugly gesture towards Lyon fans, a day after the match stressed that he had done nothing wrong. 'He insulted my mother, my family, my children', the former Olympique Marseille and Lazio footballer justified himself.
In that match, Guendouzi was targeted by the crowd during the warm-up phase. England striker Mason Greenwood, also a former Marseille player, joined Guendouzi at the end of the match, which Fenerbahçe won 2-1.
"Our club will present important evidence to the competent authorities to protect the rights and interests of our players and Fenerbahçe," the Istanbul club said in a statement.
