The National Boxing Championship has failed in the final phase, leading to the cancellation of the final matches. The reigning champion club, Vllaznia, a 27-time national champion, has raised strong accusations against the Federation and the organizers for the failure to ensure the smooth running of the event.
Head coach Zef Gjoni says that during the first two days of the competition there was violence, pressure and tension, situations that, according to him, also led to the referees' removal from the activity and the failure of the tournament.
Gjoni claims that there was pressure and involvement of incriminated persons, who, according to him, influenced the failure of the National Championship.
According to the Shkodra trainers, the pressures were initially exerted on the boxers, then on the team staff and finally on the referees. They state that three episodes of violence were recorded at the Sports Palace in Tirana, which were not prevented even by the police. According to them, athletes and fans were involved in the physical clashes.
The most important Albanian boxing teams participated in the championship, starting with Vllaznia, absolutely dominant in the last three decades, and continuing with Partizan, Tirana, Flamurtari, Student, Dinamo, Elbasan, Teuta, Apolonia, "Green Team" and "Albania".
