"The people of Kosovo and the Republic won!"/ Kurti announces victory

The leader of the LVV, Albin Kurti, declared victory in the December 28 elections and said that this is the "biggest victory in the country's history."

" On February 9, LVV won with its partners, on December 28, the people of Kosovo and the Republic won," Kurti said.

Kurti said that his party is on track to surpass the result of February 14, 2021, when it won 50.2 percent.

According to him, Sunday's election result requires that we move forward without delay.

" The sooner [the results] are certified, the sooner we need to create institutions and continue the good work ," Kurti said.

Kurti said that the new legislature is waiting for the EU Growth Plan worth 880 million euros and three agreements with the World Bank, which in total he said amount to over 1 billion euros.

" I now invite opposition parties to cooperate in the Assembly on international agreements and other draft laws ," he said.

Kurti was also asked about the issue of the president. He said that it is too early to talk about the issue of electing a new president, emphasizing that "tonight we will celebrate," but added that this issue should be addressed with the opposition, but also with the current president, Vjosa Osmani, whose mandate expires in March.

Asked if he would negotiate with the opposition parties for the presidency and have them make the presidential proposal, Kurti said:

" Negotiating it and giving it to them are two different things. They cannot be used as synonyms, much less in the same sentence. Of course, we need to discuss this issue with the opposition. But first, we need to discuss international agreements. It will be an important test for government-opposition cooperation in the next four years. I repeat, first we need to wait for the certification of the results ." / REL
