Today, 13 years since the Brussels Agreement, a key moment in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue

Today marks 13 years since the signing of the first Brussels Agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, an important document that aimed to normalize relations between the two countries.
On April 19, 2013, then-Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, and his Serbian counterpart, Ivica Dačić, signed the 15-point agreement with the mediation of the European Union.
The agreement included a number of key points, including the establishment of the Association of Serb-Majority Municipalities, the integration of security and justice structures in the north within Kosovo institutions, and the organization of local elections in accordance with Kosovo laws and international standards.
The document also stipulated that both parties would not hinder each other on the path towards European integration, while with the mediation of the EU, a mechanism for the implementation of the agreement was also created.
Even after more than a decade, the Brussels Agreement remains a landmark in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue process, although its implementation has been accompanied by challenges and ongoing political debate.
