Kosovo is a state reality that Serbia has neither the capacity nor the power to undo at its own will. POINT!
Living with the idea that Serbia is still on the verge of retaking Kosovo is, if not paranoia, a form of living in the past, but certainly not a realistic reading of the present.
This is because Kosovo has passed the historical point of no return. Its independence can be contested by Serbia, it can be attacked diplomatically, it can be obstructed in certain international processes, but it cannot be undone simply because Belgrade wants it or has a BIA strategy for it.
This does not mean, of course, that Serbia no longer has interests in Kosovo.
On the contrary, Serbia has a primary interest in influencing the way this state reality develops, consolidates and integrates internationally. It has political, diplomatic, security interests and, of course, the activity of intelligence services towards Kosovo is not something that can be ruled out.
But it is precisely here that the distinction that is often missing in the public debate must be made.
One thing is the real activity of an intelligence service and quite another is the fantasy that everything that happens in Kosovo is part of a grand conspiracy to return Kosovo to Serbia.
Of course, a serious state must investigate every clue, follow every lead, or expose every real network of foreign influence.
But a serious society must do one more thing: not replace proof with paranoia, because that would mean living in the limbo of a reality that has long since died.
Because there is a paradoxical danger. By believing that Serbia is behind every event, Kosovo may continue to keep itself psychologically tied to Serbia and by constantly looking back may forget to look forward, which would be the greatest fatality for Kosovo.
And this is perhaps the most dangerous form of slavery towards Serbia. So, not when someone actually controls the future, but when you yourself fail to emerge from the shadow of the past.
Of course, Kosovo must be vigilant and must be protected from any interference.
But it must above all have the self-confidence of a state - it is an indisputable reality that Serbia has zero chance of undoing by its own will.
Therefore, Kosovo's challenge is no longer to prove every day that it has the right to exist, but its challenge is to build a state so strong, functional, and secure that no one can hold it hostage to the past.
