Veliaj's arrest/ Lapaj and Shabani protest at the Prime Minister's

Following the arrest of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj by BKH agents, on the orders of SPAK, Adriatik Lapaj's Albania Becomes Movement and Endri Shabani's Nisma Thurje held a protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office this Tuesday evening, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

While participation appeared to be among the lowest recorded in their protests, Lapaj stressed that GJKKO and SPAK should be supported without reservation in their fight against corruption and confronting the 34-year-old gangs, as he called them.

" In fact, this is a quick reaction to stand up to that law and to stand by the Special Court and the Special Prosecutor's Office, who are courageously fighting the 34-year-old gangs. Of course, autocracy, in countries taken hostage, in countries where the administration is threatened with their jobs, their livelihoods, where people in the administration are forced to send 5 to 10 family members abroad to vote for the ruling party, so that the ruling party violently seizes the seat of power. But, the elections are near. This is not a matter of voting for one party or another, those who follow us should know clearly, only those who are in power should not vote ," said Lapaj.

The leader of Nisma Thurje accused Rama of abusing power by misusing public assets for personal interests.

"I heard Rama today and he said I will not leave the chair. Are you fed up? Are you fed up? For 24 years you have taken away this country's public spaces, you have taken away the beaches, you have taken away the national assets, you have taken away the natural resources. What has kept you from taking more, sir? Are you fed up? He says I will not leave, I will not leave the country," Shabani said.
