Requesting suspension of detention periods, Meta appeals to the Supreme Court

Former President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, has filed an appeal with the Supreme Court of Albania, opposing the decision of the Special Appeals Court that left in force the security measure "prison arrest".
In his request, Meta requests the relaxation of the security measure, arguing that the legal conditions and criteria for keeping him in detention do not exist. He claims that the measure is unjustified and disproportionate to the circumstances of the case.
On the other hand, the Special Structure Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) has so far refuted his claims, defending the position that the security measure is based on evidence and procedural risk.
The leader of the Freedom Party has been indicted for the criminal offenses of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets. His ex-wife, Monika Kryemadhi, and three other people are also defendants in the same case.
