Caught with 1 million euros hidden on the Kosovo-Serbia border, photo of arrested police officer emerges

Kosovo Customs announced yesterday that around 1 million euros in undeclared cash were seized at the Merdare border crossing, which connects Kosovo with Serbia. The discovery of this amount of money was made after customs officials selected a vehicle for a detailed inspection. According to sources, the 1 million euros were hidden in the car by Aurel Kaziu, a police officer at Police Station No. 5 in Tirana.
"The vehicle was initially checked through an X-ray scanning device, where the first indications of the existence of a suspicious modified space on its floor were identified. Following these indications, Kosovo Customs requested assistance from Border Police officials, who provided technical support through a fiberoptic device. According to initial estimates, the amount of cash is suspected to be around 1 million euros," Kosovo Customs announced.
Border authorities have arrested Kamza police officer Aurel Kaziu. There are strong suspicions that Kaziu was bringing large sums of money into Albania by car, the product of drug trafficking and other illegal activities of Albanian groups in Europe. It is not known whether Kaziu confessed to the police on whose behalf he was transporting undeclared and unjustified money.
