Raid in Domokos prison, cell phones and knives found in the cells of Alket Rizai and 'Sandri'

A surprise operation was carried out at Domokos Prison by officers of the Greek Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, as part of increased controls to prevent illegal activities within prisons.
According to sources, among the cells thoroughly searched were those of Albanian convict Alket Rizaj, as well as another Albanian convict known by the nickname "Sandri", considered the main organizer of the transport of 1.2 tons of cocaine to Astakos, in the Aitoloakarnania region, from the Caribbean in January 2020. During the search, officers seized mobile phones, chargers and knives, despite the fact that just 24 hours earlier another operation had been carried out in the same prison, where 17 cells were searched.
Official sources report that operations will continue in all prisons in the country, with the aim of preventing the introduction of weapons, narcotics and other prohibited items.
Meanwhile, investigations are also ongoing into the murder of a dangerous convict, who was executed with a firearm inside the former Central Prison. So far, the convict suspected of having committed the shooting has been arrested, as well as the prison director. However, according to sources, the issuance of other arrest warrants is not ruled out while the investigations are ongoing. According to reports, Rizaj is suspected of having been present at the scene, but he has denied this. However, sources close to the investigation speak of contradictions between his statements and the testimonies given by prison guards and other persons.
