The new pact/"Civil Disobedience" goes to waste again, Berisha unites votes with Rama again!

While public opinion is entirely focused on the arrest of Veliaj, the SP and the DP have once again found an agreement on the diaspora vote. More precisely, it is a matter of "defeat" of the opposition after several weeks of declarations that it would not vote for the changes proposed by Damian Gjiknuri. When in fact this is exactly what happened. Berisha's deputies voted today in the Laws Committee for the SP's version.
At today's meeting it was decided:
• SP – Abolition of postage for sending diaspora votes. It was the SP that imposed this condition on July 26. Of course, the SP is interested in it now that it has undertaken a massive wave of patronage in the diaspora. Apparently, it seeks to compensate for the votes it lacks within Albania with patronized votes from the diaspora, now undertaking to pay for them with money from the state budget. So, practically in the middle of the campaign it is “buying” the diaspora votes in its own interest.
• SP – The change in deadlines was accepted, a move that goes in favor of the SP. The system of patronage of the diaspora vote gives the government more advantage. The fear that, with the current deadlines, many postal votes could arrive late, i.e. after May 11, pushed the SP to propose extending the deadlines, in order to ensure that any diaspora patronage vote for the SP does not go to waste.
• SP – The creation of a bipartisan commission for counting votes was accepted, ensuring that no vote from outside can pass without the approval of the two old parties.
• DP – The voting of Albanians with regular foreign documents was not accepted, thus excluding a large number of citizens (at least 150 thousand) who, although they are Albanian citizens, will not be able to exercise their democratic right.
This agreement, passed without much attention, is likely an indicator of a path being paved to perhaps reach other agreements on issues of common interest.
As, for example, is the attitude towards SPAK. None of the parties rushed to publicize it as a success, even though in fact it was Sali Berisha who accepted everything proposed by Rama, while not fulfilling any of his own demands.
Knowing Berisha's positions, this leaves a shadow of doubt that he has taken something from Rama somewhere else, in the shadows./ VNA.al
