Rama in the US on February 19, reaction from the DP: There will be an American

Democratic Party MP Oerd Bylykbashi commented on expectations for Prime Minister Edi Rama's visit to the United States, emphasizing that he does not expect the majority to withdraw from the latest initiative (changes to the Criminal Code) despite international pressure.

Invited to the QUO VADIS studio, Bylykbashi stated that it is not simply related to specific individuals or narrow interests, but has an "existential" character for the prime minister.

Asked whether visits by representatives of the American embassy or a reaction from the United States of America could influence the majority's stance, he said that this would be a different situation, but emphasized that he was referring to the current situation.

Bylykbashi: I don't believe that Edi Rama will step down, even if the 'Peace Board' comes here.

Borakaj: You don't believe that even the visits of the representative of the American embassy will dissuade the Socialist Party from this initiative?

Bylykbashi: I don't believe so, because it's existential. So, it's not just a matter of Balluku or a simple interest, it's a matter of his existential need, as he is being politically attacked.

Borakaj: Don't you think it depends on how Rama returns from the United States of America, also in relation to these changes?

Bylykbashi:  If there will be a 'big bang' for this there, that's another story. I'm talking about the current state of things, about what we've seen these days and about this proposal that has been presented. Now the debate will be this, they will claim that this has a retroactive effect. The Constitution talks about the favorable criminal law having a retroactive effect, but this is a criminal procedural law.
