Spiropali welcomes the EP Foreign Affairs Committee: 2026 is important for the

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, met today at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs with the delegation of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), chaired by the Chairman, David McAllister.

The meeting focused on the progress of Albania's EU accession process and the special and supportive role of the European Parliament.

During the exchanges, the need to continue with reforms with determination was emphasized, to maximize results, with 2026 being key for the implementation of the agreed plans.

In a post on social media, Spiropali underlined that with the MEPs they discussed ways to further expand and diversify cooperation with all European institutions, including the European Parliament in every field and aspect, today as a candidate country and soon as a member state.

"I thanked them for supporting the process of Albania's enlargement and membership in the EU, as a valuable investment for the peace, security and prosperity of our continent," Spiropali wrote.

It was a pleasure to welcome today at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs the delegation of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), chaired by the Chairman, David McAllister.

We had a real conversation about:

* The progress of Albania's EU accession process and the special and supportive role of the European Parliament;

* The need to continue with reforms with determination, to maximize results, with 2026 key for the implementation of agreed plans.

* The importance of fully aligning our foreign policy with that of the EU, as a major investment in strengthening cooperation;

* Ways to further expand and diversify cooperation with all European institutions, including the European Parliament, in every field and aspect — today as a candidate country and soon as a member state — for the common good and future, to face growing global challenges and unpredictability.

I thanked them for supporting the process of Albania's enlargement and membership in the EU, as a valuable investment in the peace, security and prosperity of our continent.
