Elite tourism? Lack of infrastructure, garbage, sewage, the report blackens Rama's facade

A frenzy of reports in pro-government media about foreign tourist numbers during 2024 create the idea that Albania has transformed into a kind of paradise on earth.
INSTA reports, but more recently, also those of the Bank of Albania, speak of over 11 million foreign tourists in our country last year, a figure which, on the other hand, has not translated at all into an increase in domestic consumption.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, who is engaged in an electoral campaign to obtain his fourth governing mandate, has turned the topic of tourism into one of his main battle horses.
He never misses an opportunity to mention successes and what he considers to be major investments in attracting foreign tourists.
However, beyond its propaganda campaign, the main branch of tourism in Albania, the coastal one, is at a level that is hardly considered scandalous.
Tourists, both Albanian and foreign, are witnesses to the lack of investment, dirt, and infrastructure along much of the Albanian coastline.
A full overview is also provided in a Performance Audit Report on " Public Beach Management ", recently published by the Supreme State Audit Office (SSA).
Excerpt from the KLSH report on the situation of public beaches
The information summarized in this report provides the real situation of the tourism sector, what is seen every day, not only by the residents of the areas, but also by many, many others who choose to vacation on the Albanian coastline.

According to the observations of the audit group on the public beaches of the Vlora municipality , specifically in the Lungomare and Pashalimani areas , they were found to be outside any standard.
