Sokrat Lipan alias Vata, the 29-year-old from Has suspected of the murder of 20-year-old Portuguese Luis Miguel Varela Mendes in Ksamil, has given his testimony before the investigative group, recounting his version of the dynamics of the event.

According to Vata, the conflict initially started between Portuguese tourists, who he said were under the influence of alcohol. He stated that after noticing the clash, he approached and asked the young people to calm down, as there were other people in the bar.

However, according to his testimony, the situation did not calm down and the debate continued, escalating into a physical conflict.

"I asked them to remain calm, as there were other people in the bar. It was impossible to maintain calm and the conflict escalated," Vata told investigators.

The 29-year-old also gave his version regarding the knife that was used in the incident. According to him, the victim had the knife. Vata claims that during the conflict, the Portuguese man pulled out the knife and that he intervened to take it from his hand.

"The Portuguese had the knife. I took it from his hand ," he is said to have declared to the black platoons.

We recall that this testimony of Vata comes about 24 hours after his arrest. 20-year-old Luis Miguel Varela Mendes had arrived in Ksamil for vacation, together with a group of young people from Portugal and France. Unfortunately, the vacation on the Albanian Riviera ended tragically after the conflict that began in the premises of the luxury complex "Principotes".

According to the dynamics revealed so far by the investigation, the victim was initially involved in a conflict with David Heurtevent, an Albanian citizen with British citizenship and residing in Tirana.

It is suspected that the fight started over a girl and then the situation escalated, involving other people in the bar, including customers and staff members.

Heurtevent is suspected of punching the young Portuguese man, while other members of the bar's staff were also involved in the fight. Following this, according to the investigation, Sokrat Vata removed the young man from the premises of the "La Guerre" nightclub, inside the "Principotes" complex.

The victim was taken to the sunbed area of ​​the "Paradise" beach bar, near the complex, where the stabbing that took his life then occurred.

Meanwhile, the testimonies of other tourists who were in the bar at the time of the incident have also come to light. They have stated to the investigation group that they did not see the moment of the murder and that they only learned about the incident in the morning, after the arrival of the Police.

As part of the investigation into the incident, 11 people have been arrested, while two others are wanted.

Sokrat Lipan alias Vata was arrested about five hours after the incident in Levan, Fier, after he was hiding in the trunk of a vehicle. Two Turkish citizens were also arrested with him, who were suspected of transporting him towards Tirana.

Investigators continue to work to fully clarify the circumstances of the conflict, the actions of each of the people involved, and the moments that led to the death of the Portuguese tourist.
