State on the brink of collapse! Services at the Tirana Court are blocked, the administration boycotts work for August salaries

The salary impasse in the justice system has also brought about the first boycott by the judicial administration. Employees and secretaries of the Civil Chamber of the Tirana Court have blocked services, demanding clarification on why their August salaries have not yet been paid and what will happen to them.
The administration has informed the President of the Court about the boycott, while employees have been informed that there will be a position after the meeting of the presidents of all courts, scheduled for 3:00 PM at the Supreme Court.
Prosecutors' office heads have also gathered to discuss the blocked salaries. Prosecutor General Olsian Çela has called a meeting with the heads of district prosecutors' offices and the Albanian Prosecutors' Association, while members of the KLP have also been invited.
The impasse began after the Assembly failed to approve the new formula for magistrates' salaries by the July 31 deadline, as requested by the Constitutional Court. After the deadline passed, the Supreme Court of Justice and the Supreme Judicial Council argued that they were obliged to implement the Constitutional Court's decision themselves and set the new reference salary at 222,425 lek, up from the previous 156,800 lek, plus an additional 14,000 lek for the level of qualification.
The Ministry of Finance did not execute the payrolls calculated with the increase, arguing that determining the salary formula is the competence of the Assembly and requested that they be resentred according to the previous methodology. As a result, not only judges and prosecutors, but also employees of the administration of the courts and prosecutor's offices have been left without their August salaries.
Two days ago, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the "door of the State Treasury", where the salaries of justice institutions have remained blocked, cannot be opened by force.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Justice, Toni Gogu, has warned that the impasse will be resolved in the Assembly with the start of the new parliamentary session.
