Protests cause a fever in the government in August/ Rama prepares a storm in the

The large protest of Albanians demanding the resignation of Edi Rama, the removal of the corrupt political caste and the establishment of new rules of the "game" of a functional democracy, is entering its third month. Despite great efforts through attempts at division and acts of violence within it, plans to end the Protest before it reaches September, when it is expected to multiply, seem to have failed.

In this context, Edi Rama seems to be moving to "Plan B", that as he did with the student protest, he will start making concessions with strong changes in his Cabinet, sending a message of "reflection" to the Protest and the international community. Therefore, within "Rilindja" a period of anxiety and fever has begun for Edi Rama's ministers, as September is expected to bring changes to the government cabinet.

Ahead of possible decisions, the prime minister has called a series of political and government meetings in Pogradec, where each minister will undergo what is considered a "performance test."

As reported a few days ago, the movements begin this weekend and culminate on Monday with an informal government meeting, while the Socialist Party National Assembly is expected to convene in the first week of September. This meeting could also determine the fate of some of Rama's ministers.

Top Channel 's reporting raises the scenario of changes in the leadership of at least six ministries. So far, there is no official confirmation on the number or names of ministers who may leave, but the meeting schedule puts the cabinet in front of a full analysis just a few days before the SP Assembly.

On Monday, at the government villa in Pogradec, ministers will report on the work of their departments during the period January-August 2026. This time, deputy ministers will not participate in the meeting. Rama will be accompanied by only ministers and heads of agencies subordinate to them.

Before this report, Rama will gather on Sunday, at 11:30, the 12 political leaders of the regions and the socialist chairmen of the parliamentary committees.

The focus of the meeting will be the "Besa" document and the "Presence of Besa" document, submitted to the socialist parliamentary group at the end of July. Discussions will also include preparations for the 2027 local elections.

On Sunday evening, Rama will host a dinner with political leaders, committee chairs, and ministers. The following day, the cabinet report will begin.

Ministers will not only report on the results of their departments. As in previous meetings of this format, part of the assessment will also include their presence in the media and on social networks.

After Pogradec comes the National Assembly of the Socialist Party.

Socialist sources say the meeting is expected in the first week of September. In the past, Rama has used Assembly meetings to announce cabinet changes, which has raised questions about the ministers who may be affected this time.

So, the fever has started before Rama makes any decision public. On Sunday, the political structure meets, on Monday the ministers give an account for the eight months of the year, and in early September the Assembly arrives.

It remains to be seen whether the scenario for changes in at least six ministries will materialize, but one thing is certain: These moves are expected to have the opposite effect, making the protest even bigger, which seems not to stop until Rama resigns, the creation of a non-partisan technical government that will prepare legislation for the establishment of true and functional democracy./ Alfapress.al
