Rama holds out hopes for Erion Veliaj: He was a political talent, but power ate

Prime Minister Edi Rama has shared another position regarding the state of the management of the Municipality of Tirana, while Mayor Erion Veliaj has been in Durrës prison for more than 18 months.

In a video post on his social media, announcing an interview with Rudina Xhunga, Rama said that the municipality is headless.

Rama described what is happening in the country's largest municipality as a social, political and economic experiment.

"The municipality has no head. That is, it is a social, political and economic experiment, for a capital city to be run without a head," said Rama.

Further in the video posted on FB, Rama states that, "he was a talent, a great political talent, but he could not bear the weight of power. Power is a monstrous animal," KM states. This statement seems to refer to Erion Veliaj.

Rama's statement comes in the wake of a series of developments in recent days, where Erion Veliaj has undertaken a political incursion into the municipality by dismissing all of Rama's and Balluk's people from office, which has raised suspicions that it is pressure on the High Court to obtain release on September 15th when the next session will be held.
