Returning to Basha's proposals, and the foundations of the new Albania

For years, Lulzim Basha has articulated a clear platform for radical change in the political system in Albania. He has called for limiting power, increasing accountability, and opening the political system to citizens. His bills and proposals, which are still pending in the Assembly today, have been ignored, delayed, and often treated with arrogance and ridicule by the majority and the old political opposition. However, today they are more vital than ever to pave the way for a new Albania.
The decriminalization of public life clearly showed a bitter reality: the inclusion of individuals with criminal records in administration and politics. This process was not simply a reform, but a belated acknowledgement of a deep systemic problem. In this context, political responsibility does not lie with a single party. Edi Rama and his government created and tolerated a system where crime and politics were often confused, while Sali Berisha, in another phase, failed to disentangle the opposition from the perception of connections with dubious interests and old power practices. This has led to a deep crisis of trust, where citizens are demanding not only a change of names, but a change of the system.
In this sense, the demand for reform is no longer political, but existential for Albanian democracy.
CHANGING THE SYSTEM, NOT JUST CHANGING NAMES

✅ Lifting immunity for MPs and ministers
✅ Open lists – the citizen decides, not the party leader
✅ Complete equality of votes for every Albanian
✅ Electronic voting for free, fair and uncontested elections
✅ Diaspora voting electronically, avoiding manipulation and its political use as an electoral measure
✅ Parliament with 100 members
✅ Uncompromising fight against corruption and money laundering
✅ Return of property where it is vacant
✅ Market value compensation for occupied properties
✅ Complete and final property registration
✅ Support for honest entrepreneurship and clean investments
✅ No one is above the law – a state where justice knows no names or surnames
Albania no longer has the luxury of remaining hostage to the old political cycle. It needs a system that produces transparency, not clientelism; justice, not impunity; and real rotation, not recycling of the same actors.
Albania needs a change of system, not a rotation of the same ones.
