Edin Dzeko close to returning to Serie A

Edin Dzeko is close to a sensational return to Serie A. The Bosnian striker has reached a verbal agreement with Fiorentina and is expected to sign a one-year contract with the purple club, ending his adventure in Turkey with Fenerbahçe.

According to reports from "Football Italia", Fiorentina have taken the lead over Bologna in the race to secure the services of the 39-year-old, convincing the player thanks to the decisive intervention of newly arrived coach Stefano Pioli.

Dzeko joins on a free transfer, with his contract with Fenerbahçe expiring at the end of June. After two seasons in the Turkish Super Lig, the former Bosnian national team captain is ready for another challenge in Italian top flight football.

With an impressive tally of 107 goals in 268 Serie A matches with Roma and Inter, Dzeko is looking to continue making his mark in the Italian league, this time with Fiorentina.

The Tuscan club aims to strengthen the offensive department and Dzeko's experience is expected to be an added value for the team in the new season.
