IOC plans to bring Russia back to the Olympics, Kiev reacts harshly

After Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, the International Olympic Committee decided to ban Russian athletes from participating in the 'Olympic Games'.
But the incoming IOC president, Kristy Coventry, has recently stated that she is against this.
She stressed that she would begin a discussion to allow Russia to return to the 2026 Olympic Games.
But this stance has caused a strong reaction from Kiev, which is against this expectation.
"We will call on the international community to reject any attempts to normalize the presence of Russian and Belarusian citizens in sports while the war against Ukraine continues," said Yuriy Muzyka, Ukraine's deputy sports minister.
Muzyka adds that Russia also uses sports for political interests, where, according to her, Russian athletes are part of Kremlin propaganda.
"In the Russian Federation, sports are part of state policy, they have no autonomy, and athletes and officials are part of the state propaganda machine," he added.
