Kosovo Cup, Balkan and Dukagjini secure qualification to the quarterfinals

Two more matches were held today within the 1/8 finals of the Kosovo Cup in football, where Balkan and Dukagjini have secured qualification for the quarterfinals.
In the evening hours at the “Fadil Vokrri” stadium in the capital, Balkan managed to eliminate Prishtina after a very dramatic match, which was decided only after a series of penalty kicks. Regular time and overtime ended with a draw, 2:2, respectively 3:3, while after a marathon series of 11-meter penalties, the Suharekë team triumphed, with a score of 11:10.
Prishtina started the match in the best possible way, taking the lead in the 50th second with a goal by French center back Philippe Boueye. In the second half, the lead was doubled by Mario Ilievski in the 50th minute. Balkan returned to the game after an own goal by Ardian Limani, in the 77th minute, while the equalizer was achieved from the penalty spot by Almir Kryeziu, in the 88th minute.
In the second half, Balkan took the lead for the first time with Ivica Batarelo's super goal in the 97th minute, but Prishtina reacted quickly and tied the score at 3:3 through Lorik Mehmeti in the 100th minute. Since there were no more goals until the end, the winner was determined by penalties, where Balkan's players proved to be more accurate.
Meanwhile, in the match held during the afternoon, Dukagjini i Klina defeated Prishtina e Re, with a minimum score of 1:0 and also qualified for the quarterfinals. The only goal of the match was scored by Hekuran Berisha, in the 58th minute, giving his team the victory.
The other two matches of the 1/8 finals will take place on Thursday at 13:00, where Gjilani – Liria, Vushtrri – Vëllaznimi and Trepça '89 – Malisheva will meet. Meanwhile, on February 18 at 13:00, the last duel of this phase will be played between Feronikeli 74 and Dinamo e Ferizaj.
