Taking on the jersey of a legend, Alexander Arnold is introduced to Real Madrid

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been presented at Real Madrid. The English defender has taken the shirt of a Los Blancos legend, Marcelo, with the number 12. 

This is despite the fact that there were not many choices as the only numbers available were 18 and 25, while the others were all taken in the run-up to the Club World Cup. LaLiga, unlike the Premier League, does not allow first-team players to wear numbers higher than 25; numbers from 26 to 50 are in fact reserved for second-team players. However, it is not ruled out that there will be some changes after the competition that starts in a few hours.

The official photo with president Florentino Perez has been published on the club's profile and the mystery of the name that will appear on the shirt has also been revealed: Trent, as Real does not allow the personalization of shirts with surnames longer than 11 characters. In "Alexander-Arnold" there are 15 excluding the hyphen, so an abbreviation and a transition to the simple "Trent" have been chosen.
