Nagelsmann promises a formidable Germany at the World Cup

In a wide-ranging interview, Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann reflects on the upcoming UEFA Nations League match with Italy and the build-up to the World Cup, where he believes the group can reach its peak.

"This is the shortest camp we have, so we can't change much. We can practice the plan against the Italians in two 20-minute sessions," he said.

Nagelsmann does not expect many changes for the World Cup either, with the 37-year-old planning to stick with most of the players who featured at last year's European Championship.

"Of course we have a master plan for how we want to organize the World Cup qualifiers and then the World Cup itself.

I will stick to the fact that we have a core of 13 or 14 players that we trust.

There can be no open position like there is at the club.

"The roles need to be clear both on and off the pitch, even if they are perhaps a little more open at the moment," said Nagelsmann, who believes his team can go far in the tournament.

"I believe we can reach our peak at the World Cup," concluded the Germany coach.
