Real Madrid leads the betting, is the favorite to win La Liga in the new

Real Madrid are the favourites to win La Liga next season. With 36 league titles in their career, they are the main contenders to return to the dominance of Spanish football.

The competition will begin on August 17, and will end on May 24, 2026. Elche and Levante are the two new faces confirmed in the First Division, which await the resolution of the qualifying matches for promotion to the second category, while Real Valladolid, Leganés and Las Palmas, will not be present since last season.

At the top, barring a miracle, everything tells the same story as almost all of these last years. Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid on the podium, while the rest of the teams are waiting for something to change. Will we experience the 37th title of the Kings of Europe? Find out with Betfair.

Real Madrid tops the list…

Although it was FC Barcelona that won the LaLiga title, after a more than impressive season, betting agencies have other plans for the national competition: it will once again be painted in white.

The Merengues finished four points behind Hansi Flick's team, although in the 2023/24 season, the year in which they last lifted the league trophy, the points difference with the second-placed team increased to 10 points.

Now, what shows that Real Madrid will dominate next season? Their new coach, Xabi Alonso. The “Kings of Europe” face a new chapter in their sporting history. The Basque coach took charge of Bayer Leverkusen from October 2022 and made history in the 2023/24 season by winning the Bundesliga.

Furthermore, with Kylian Mbappé shining in his scoring figures in his debut year as a Real Madrid player - 31 goals in LaLiga, which won him the 'Golden Boot', and 43 in all competitions - and new signings like Trent-Alexander Arnold to cover the right-back who has caused so many headaches for the Whites, Alonso has a team to play with.

Perhaps the absence of Luka Modric, who left Real Madrid 13 years and 28 titles later, could open the door of hope for the rest of the teams.

FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid, further away

They are the two teams with the best betting positions, behind Real Madrid, but still a considerable distance. Under the guidance of Hansi Flick, Barça has recovered its essence. They were crowned champions of La Liga, the King's Cup and the Spanish Super Cup for the fourth time in history, something that no one else has achieved.

Eighteen of the last 35 editions of the Primera División have been held at the Camp Nou or, failing that, at Montjuïc. In 1990, the difference in titles in this competition between Real Madrid and Barcelona was a total of 15. Now, just eight separate the two giants of Spanish football.

It remains to be seen how the summer transfer window will play out, but Barça have plenty of arguments to defend their title. FC Barcelona are declared LaLiga champions for the 2025/26 season with an average of 2.4

For their part, Atlético Madrid, who last lifted the league trophy in the 2020/21 season, have not finished higher than third place, with the last two seasons since then being the ones in which they have obtained their worst results: 2024/25 - 8 points below second place and 2023/24 - 9 points below second place.

The signing of Julián Álvarez, the seventh-highest scorer in the First Division with 17 goals, is one of the few things that Cholo Simeone's team has managed to capture this season. Atlético Madrid crowned 2025/26 La Liga champions at odds of 11.0

Is there any chance for the rest?

Of the 19 participants confirmed for next season, only Valencia has managed to win the title and break the dominance of LaLiga's top three teams this century.

This happened in the 2003/04 and 2001/02 seasons, 21 years since Los Chés last won the title. Valencia, the LaLiga champions for the 2025/26 season, are paid 301.0.

However, other clubs such as Villarreal and Athletic Club could be a more realistic option, as they have had a more complete season. They finished LaLiga in fourth and fifth place and qualified for next season's Champions League.

The yellow team is the fourth favorite for the title and is quoted at 67.0, while the 'lions', fifth in the betting race, are also at 67.0.

Far from this top 5, but which also secures a place in Europe for next year, we find Real Betis and Celta Vigo, sixth and eighth on the list of favorites. Meanwhile, Rayo Vallecano, which secured a historic qualification for the Conference League, is at the bottom of the list and their chances are stratospheric: 1001.0.

Betis, the LaLiga champion for the 2025/26 season, is paid 101.0 Celta Vigo, the 2025/26 La Liga champion, is paid 301.0.
