Jurgen Klopp's surprising revelation: Biathlon is the best sport

Former Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp believes that biathlon is the sport that perfectly combines the physical and mental aspects.

Klopp, who rang the final bell in Anterselva on Tuesday during the men's biathlon relay race, has declared himself a big fan of the sport. "It's the best combination of all the physical and mental aspects of the sport, all in one. Someone runs to the limit of their strength, then they give them a rifle. If you ask me, I don't know who came up with this idea, but I've liked it for a long time," he told the organizers of the Olympic Games.

The former Liverpool coach expressed great admiration for the biathletes: “The less skilled I am at something, the more respect I have for it. The resilience they show is extraordinary. It’s a constant example of re-igniting and refocusing. A real challenge for me would be to be in the last round of shooting, miss two shots and still have to finish the race with all my might. It’s something big. I don’t know how these things happen, it’s like being down 8-0 in a match with 10 minutes left, but you still have to play it to the end.”

The German, who first attended the 1972 Munich Olympics, which he describes as "extraordinary" and was also present at the Paralympic Games in Paris last summer, sees the sport as a source of inspiration for everyday life. "These people are role models to follow. They face situations that we encounter every day, only with a different code. I am a big fan of athletes, their attitude and everything that sport can teach us about life. When you watch the Olympic Games, in such a difficult moment for the world, they still have their place and maintain the same atmosphere and spirit. We are all friends, we compete against each other, but we are friends, and that is the most important message you can get."

In the end, he admitted that he needs to improve his shooting: "Yesterday I tried shooting. I hit the target three times, but next to me was a six-year-old girl and she hit five. So tomorrow she will try to teach me," concluded the legendary football coach.
