How much money do Albanians spend on Netflix? The majority of users are men

Netflix is one of the platforms that has been gaining more and more popularity recently around the world. Apparently, Albanians have not been far from the desire to become part of the archive of world cinema films, as according to statistics, the number of users has increased significantly.
According to 2024 statistics from the World Population Review, Albania had 20 thousand active users. Meanwhile, in terms of countries in the region, Albania and Montenegro ranked second to last, while Serbia was in first place with 200 thousand users. Next on the list was North Macedonia with 50 thousand users. Meanwhile, Bosnia and Herzegovina had the lowest number of users with only 10 thousand.
But at the end of 2024, these statistics have changed. According to Start.io Audiences, which measures Netflix users in different countries in real time, Albania currently has 37,773 active users.
These statistics show that the age group that uses Netflix the most is the 18-24 year olds, which makes up about 48% of the audience. In second place is the 25-32 year olds, which accounts for 35.2% of users. On the other hand, the 33-44 year old age category represents 8.8% of the audience. Meanwhile, the two age groups with the lowest percentage are the 45-54 year olds and the 55+ year olds, with 3.9% and 4.9% of the Albanian audience, respectively.
Another interesting fact is that, according to the data, it turns out that of these users, 80.5% are male and 19.5% are female.
Netflix streamers in Albania have also chosen the Samsung Galaxy A12 as their device of choice.
Based on this data, "Scan Intel" has analyzed how much Albanians spend to watch movies on Netflix.
A Netflix subscription has different prices, starting from €4.99, €7.99 and €9.99. The average price that Albanians spend based on these values is €7.65. Multiplying this figure by the number of active users, it turns out that Albanians currently pay around 289 thousand euros per month in total. If this number remains unchanged, it turns out that Albanians spend around 3.47 million euros per year on this platform.
This figure is constantly changing, as there may be new users, but some of them may also unsubscribe.
It is worth noting and considering the “informality of Netflix,” as a common phenomenon is account sharing, where several people use the same address to save money. This practice is widespread, although Netflix has begun implementing measures to limit account sharing outside of the family.
