Sali Berisha is returning to Albania after his visit to the United States, while a special reception has been organized in Rinas by his supporters.
With flags in their hands, singing and dancing, a group of citizens came out to the airport to welcome the leader of the Democratic Party, giving his arrival a festive atmosphere.
Berisha had been in the US for days, where he held a series of political meetings and with the Albanian-American community. During his stay in Texas, he participated in the proceedings of the Republican Convention in Dallas, while also holding meetings with senior American officials, including US Attorney General Todd Blanche and Deputy Attorney General Stanley Woodward Jr.
The visit to the US was also Berisha's return to American territory after the lifting of the ban on traveling to the US. During his days there, the DP leader also met with Albanians of the diaspora in New Jersey and Texas, holding meetings as part of his political tour.
Now, upon returning to Albania, the reception at Rinas seems to have taken on another dimension. The flags are raised, the music has started and some of the supporters have even started dancing, briefly turning the airport into a party square.
A return from America in Rinas seems to be welcomed not simply with applause, but with the atmosphere of a political "wedding".
