New details have been learned from an operation conducted the day before that resulted in the arrest of the much-wanted Ergys Agasi. Media sources recently reported that once Agasi and former senior Elbasan Police officer Uljan Shpataraku spotted the police vehicles, they allegedly attempted to evade them.
According to the same sources, it is learned that Shpatark, who was also the driver, attempted to overtake the "Audi" vehicle in which the two SPAK wanted persons were traveling. However, this attempt by the former Police officer to escape from his former colleagues did not result in success as the Police and Operational units had cordoned off the road, blocking passage and any possibility of escape.
Under these conditions, the officers immediately intervened, surrounding the vehicle. Agasi and Shpataraku were taken out of the car and handcuffed.
The operation was carried out by the Durrës Police in cooperation with SPAK structures, while the vehicle in which Agasi was traveling was spotted in the city of Elbasan. The vehicle was kept under surveillance throughout its movement and was followed for about 40 kilometers in the direction of Peqin, Rrogozhina and then Durrës.
During the search of the vehicle after the arrest, sources indicate that around 4 thousand euros in cash were also found, which were seized by the authorities.
This morning, the president of the Albanian Bar Association, Maksim Haxhia, went to the premises of the Security Block where he met businessman Agasi, just a few hours after the latter was transferred there following his arrest in Durrës.
Agasi was arrested on Wednesday afternoon, August 26, in the Plepave area, after about eight months on the run. He had been wanted by SPAK since December 2025, as part of the investigation into the AKSHI tender dossier.
