The Supreme Court overturns the decision to sentence the former mayor of Has, Adem Lala, to be tried by another jury

The Supreme Court has overturned the decision that sentenced former mayor Has Adem Lala to 1 year and 4 months in prison for the criminal offense of abuse of office.

In its decision-making, the third instance of the judiciary has decided to overturn the Appeal decision issued on June 17, 2021 and return it for trial in the same court, but with a different judicial body.

Lala and a municipal employee were charged in connection with the privatization of a public building in the Municipality of Has.

Due to the summary trial, he was ultimately sentenced to 8 months, while the court suspended him for a probationary period of 1 year and 4 months. The court also decided to exclude Lala from public office for 5 years.
