The Court of First Instance in Fier has upheld the security measure "prison arrest" for Elmir Tufa, accused of being one of the perpetrators of Shkëlzen Kastrati's murder, which happened on February 1, 2021.
During today's session, Elmir Tufa and his lawyer claimed that on the day of the event they were in the court of Kruja in a trial to replace the insurance measure of one of his cousins and claimed that they had footage of this fact, repeating once again the non-involvement in the murder of the 42-year-old businessman.
The 31-year-old is charged with the criminal offenses "Premeditated murder" committed in cooperation, "Illegal possession and production of explosive weapons and ammunition".
Meanwhile, Albert Zaja was also arrested for the murder of Shkëlzen Kastrati, who was captured in April 2021 while trying to escape from RENEA forces in FushëKruje. Meanwhile, Elson Xhečuka and Roland Cara, who are suspected of being part of a group of hired killers, are being sought for the incident.
How did the assassination happen?
On the morning of February 1, 2021, businessman Shkëlzen Kastrati was driving his Benz type vehicle in the village of Sheq t Fieri, - where he also had his bar - when a Kalashnikov was fired from inside a Range Rover SUV. Kastrati drove a few meters, colliding with another car that was passing by.
Two bullets, one in the arm and one in the head, took the life of businessman Kastrati. The investigations were focused on revenge, since 5 years ago, his brother, Klemend Kastrati, was attempted to be assassinated. Denis Kasaj from Vlora lost his life from that event, while Klemendi was injured. The attempt to eliminate him was considered revenge since the investigations carried out at that time showed that Klemend Kastrati was involved in an injury in 2008, due to a conflict over cars, but he was also suspected of a murder that occurred in 2012.
The first person arrested for this assassination attempt is Albert Zaja, who was handcuffed by RENEA on March 21, 2021 in the village of Larushk in Fushë-Kruja. In the police list as the author of the event, in addition to Albert Zaja, who denied the accusation, there was also Elmir Tufa, who was arrested in Fushë-Kruje three days ago, on November 2. The two suspects as accomplices in crime, Elson Xhecuka, 29 years old, and Silvio alias Roland Cara, 41 years old, are still on the run. They are suspected of being part of a group of contract killers.
