Albanian criminal group dismantled in Spain, five in custody. They had built several cannabis plantations

Spanish authorities have "dismantled" an Albanian criminal group operating from various locations, in connection with charges of criminal offenses related to narcotics.
According to Spanish media, the group specialized in cultivating marijuana and distributing it throughout Catalonia.
The investigation began late last year when the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) discovered suspicious activity at an industrial warehouse in Cervera, in the Segarra region. Initial indications pointed to large-scale marijuana cultivation.
Shortly afterwards, researchers discovered a second plantation, this one located in a similar warehouse in the municipality of Manlleu, in Osona.
In both cases, electrical installations were manipulated to defraud the electricity supply, a classic example of this type of crime.
The first raid was carried out in Cervera, in an industrial warehouse, where four suspects were arrested. A plantation with 277 marijuana plants was dismantled and 600 empty pots were found.
The space was fully equipped for intensive cultivation, with ventilation, industrial lighting, air conditioning, and phytosanitary products.
The second premises, located in Manlleu, were also searched. There, a fifth member of the group was arrested and 567 marijuana plants were seized, along with a large amount of cash.
The total value of the drugs seized between the two plantations amounts to hundreds of thousands of euros.
But the operation didn't end there. The Mossos also carried out three other searches: in two apartments in the municipality of Salou and a third in Blanes.
During these raids, five other people were arrested and 75 kilograms of marijuana buds ready for distribution were seized, along with 10,900 euros in cash and 25 grams of cocaine. According to police sources, the value of the seized marijuana on the black market is estimated at 482,500 euros.
