Starting today, the implementation of the "bonus-malus", impact on

The implementation of the "bonus-malus" system in the internal MTPL insurance starts today.

The Financial Supervision Authority (AMF) has already determined the criteria for calculating the universal scheme of the "bonus-malus" system that will be applied by all insurance companies that offer the internal TPL product in categories B1 (cars) and B2 (vans, minibus).

The "bonus-malus" system is the charging mechanism in the mandatory MTPL insurance, where the applied premium depends on the damage history or driving experience of the insured. This system penalizes economically, by increasing the premium, the insured responsible for one or more accidents caused/reported during the insurance period.

On the other hand, it favors him with a reduction in the price of the insurance premium, if during the considered period he has not caused any damage.

AMF has also added as risk factors the county where the vehicle is registered, considering low risk counties such as Berati, Dibra or Kukësi, while other counties will have a coefficient of "1".

However, according to this regulation, risk factors may be added depending on the assessment that each insurance company will make.

Risk factors: damage history; motor power; the driver's age; management experience; user, individual/subject; the county where the vehicle is registered; the age of the vehicle.

Referring to the data published by the Financial Supervision Authority, the implementation of the "Bonus-Malus" system has resulted in reducing the number of accidents, protecting the lives of citizens and guaranteeing a fairer price in TPL insurance policies.

In the social aspect, with the application of the "Bonus-Malus" system, the aim is to raise public awareness for the most careful driving of the vehicle, but also to increase the quality of the insurance service towards consumers.

From the technical side, the process is more transparent and the inclusion of mathematical formulas makes it a fair, reliable and meritorious mechanism.
