"A living martyr", Pope Francis honors the Albanian Cardinal Ernest Simon Troshani

Pope Francis paid tribute to the Albanian Cardinal Ernest Simon Troshani this Wednesday.

The "Holy Father" noted that even today there are many martyrs around the world and gave a special greeting to Cardinal Ernest Simoni, whom he described as a "living martyr".

Cardinal Troshani has suffered torture in the prisons of the communist regime for about three decades.

The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, has shared a photo on "Facebook", while saying that the story of Cardinal Troshan moved the Holy Father to tears during his visit to Albania, ten years ago.
