A phone message revealed Albania-Kosovo arms traffickers

A message found on the cellphone of one of those arrested during the Albania-Kosovo operation in December last year against arms trafficking revealed the involvement of 10 other people who were handcuffed on Friday.

After breaking down the communications, Tirana Police agents kept the other members of the group under surveillance, to strike them in Operation "Puzzle".

Over the course of 5 months, investigators managed to document cases of weapons transportation and exchange through drones.

There was also no shortage of simulated purchases by the police to prove the suspects' involvement in arms trafficking.

During the operation, the police managed to seize 14 firearms, 12 of which were pistols and two other automatic long weapons, rifles and combat ammunition.

Police also found over 2,000 cannabis seeds, 3 vehicles, and 8 cell phones.

The weapons being trafficked were all new European models, weapons being trafficked into Kosovo and Albania.

The pistols mainly crossed the border from EU countries to our country in random cars hidden in the engine compartment, or in buses where they were hidden in suitcases or other places.

In our country, pistols were sold for between 1,500 and 2,500 Euros. One of them, with a silencer, would sell for over 3,000 Euros.
