Emin Kokalari under investigation for spreading fake news about AIDS in the

Citizen Emin Kokalari has been placed under investigation while at large, after allegedly spreading false news regarding a claim that Mayor Flamur Golemi and several employees of the Municipality of Gjirokastra are infected with HIV/AIDS.

Media sources indicate that as part of the preliminary investigation, Kokalari's phone has been seized, while the possibility of taking further measures, including a restraining order, is being considered.

The case began after a criminal complaint was filed by the Municipality of Gjirokastra, which accuses Kokalari of spreading false information on social media, claiming that the mayor and a number of employees were infected with HIV/AIDS. According to the municipality, this information has caused panic and uncertainty among citizens.

The legal representative of the institution, lawyer Arben Llangozi, announced that the criminal complaint aims not only to identify the perpetrators, but also to establish legal responsibility for spreading public panic.

"A criminal complaint has been filed for the distribution of false news on social networks, according to which it is claimed that there is an HIV/AIDS epidemic in the Municipality of Gjirokastra. We have requested a full investigation for all persons involved, so that citizens can receive an accurate and clear answer on this issue," said Llangozi.

He stressed that, if it turns out that there is no basis for these claims, the people responsible for spreading this information should face justice for the consequences caused.
