He injured his peer, the 17-year-old is released. Saranda Prosecution: He acted in self-defense

The Saranda Court has released 17-year-old K. Cora, assigning him the security measure "House Arrest".
Cora was arrested by the Saranda Police on March 27, 2025, as the suspected perpetrator of the stabbing of 17-year-old B. Kalemi, an event that occurred on "Butrinti" Street in the city of Saranda.
Kalemi received three stab wounds to the stomach and groin and was transported to the Vlora hospital for specialized treatment. After Cora's arrest, another person, a friend of Kalemi, was brought in to give testimony.
After investigations, the Saranda Prosecutor's Office concluded that the event had occurred differently than initially reported.
It is suspected that Cora was attacked by Kalemi and, in self-defense, had stabbed him.
For this reason, prosecutor Esmeranda Basho changed the charge against Cora from "Serious injury" to "Serious injury exceeding the limits of necessary defense."
She requested the legal assessment of the arrest in flagrante delicto and the assignment of the security measure "House arrest".
Preliminary investigation judge Edona Vajushi approved the prosecution's request and decided that Cora remain under house arrest, with the exception of the schedules for attending teaching and educational processes, after approval of the movement permit by the prosecution.
At the moment, it is not yet clear whether charges will be filed for the assault on 17-year-old Cora, as preliminary investigations have also found signs of assault on his body. Cora is being defended in court by lawyer Clirim Shahini.
