Police have found and seized 1,000 liters of diesel, 1 truck, 3,800 liters of cooking oil and 170 liters of alcohol (raki), suspected of being smuggled, in a warehouse.
In connection with this operation, the police have arrested two people for the criminal offenses of "Smuggling of goods for which excise duty is paid or with full or partial suspension of customs or excise duties", "Smuggling of other goods" and "Hiding income", committed in collaboration.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Investigation Section is finalizing the police operation codenamed "Excise" to crack down on the smuggling of goods.
1000 liters of diesel, 1 truck, 3800 liters of cooking oil and 170 liters of alcohol (raki) were found in a warehouse and seized.
Two citizens (the warehouse owner and the truck driver) are arrested.
Specialists of the Economic and Financial Crimes Investigation Section in cooperation with the Tepelena Police Commissariat, in continuation of the work to prevent, identify and crack down on criminal activities in the field of smuggling of goods, as a result of an investigative work carried out based on information obtained through intelligence, organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Excise".
During the operation, a search was conducted at the warehouse of citizen AZ, where citizen PQ's truck, filled with a quantity of oil, a tank with approximately 1,000 liters of oil, equipment for weighing and unloading oil, 3,800 liters of cooking oil and 170 liters of alcohol (raki), suspected of being smuggled, were found.
Following the actions in the case, citizens AZ, 55 years old, resident of Tirana (the owner of the warehouse) and PQ, 58 years old, resident of the village of Qesarat (the truck driver), were arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offenses of "Smuggling of goods for which excise duty is paid or with full or partial suspension of customs or excise duties", "Smuggling of other goods" and "Hiding income", committed in collaboration.
The procedural materials were transferred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastra, for further action.
